Press Release December 14, 2005
San Francisco, CA - December 14, 2005 –- Metrocities Mortgage Trains Employees To Manage Information Overload, Mobile Devices, And Office Applications
Metrocities Mortgage uses a blended training program to train employees how to manage information overload, mobile devices, and office applications.
San Francisco, CA - December 14, 2005 –- In today’s information age, e-mail, mobile devices, office applications, and managing massive amounts of information, take up significant resources. The traditional time management and organization skills, and the days of classroom training, no longer apply in an era where the boss is expecting immediate replies to e-mail, clients are sending Instant Messenger alerts, and the Executive Team is expecting “PivotTable” reports that can address complex business scenarios. Training employees to better manage the deluge of information and stay focused on primary objectives is a new challenge for most companies. Metrocities Mortgage is deploying a blended and flexible approach to such training by providing its 1000 employees nationwide access to the People-OnTheGo productivity programs of onsite, virtual, self-paced, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
“In a typical class, we are not only addressing the classroom participants in Sherman Oaks—our headquarters, but also participants nationwide via web and audio conferencing,” said Fred Simkovsky, Vice President of National Training and Development at Metrocities Mortgage, “and we are providing users with access to Web self-paced classes to reinforce the learning and help them through implementation.” This program is intended to bring the cost down significantly, and make the productivity training equally accessible to a distributed workforce.
“Different users learn differently, have different schedules, and different needs,” commented Pierre Khawand, Founder and CEO of People-OnTheGo, “and the blended approach allows them to participate based on their learning style, the current demands on their schedule, and the specific needs they are facing now.”
Don Rosselli, Executive Vice President at Metrocities Mortgage, indicated: “Companies are becoming more dependent on these technologies and providing employees easy and flexible access to these skills is becoming a necessity.”
The one-on-one sessions seem to work well for users who deal with complex business scenarios. After attending the Microsoft Excel Techniques training session for instance, Laurie Heyman participated in two one-on-one sessions, where one session was conducted onsite and the other remotely. Laurie indicated that, “The reports that I need to do regularly for the Executive Team, and which are an important part of our business process, are now done efficiently, and many of the repetitive tasks have been automated.”
The People-OnTheGo productivity offerings cover e-mail applications, mobile devices, as well as office applications. Special workshops are offered to help users manage and organize e-mail, electronic documents, papers, and the physical workspace. Classes are available onsite, as virtual workshops, Web self-paced classes at www.people-onthego.com and as one-on-one or small group coaching sessions. The People-OnTheGo Productivity eLearning Academy, provides users access to the Web self-paced classes as well as self-assessment tools, e-mail etiquettes, and best practices.
