As recent events in Japan have reminded us, we need to be prepared both for the foreseeable and the unforeseeable. An earthquake in Japan is foreseeable. The Japanese are very aware of the frequent earthquake activity in their area. What may have been unforeseeable was the magnitude of this particular earthquake and the problems with their state-of-the art nuclear reactors.
We have these same threats and many others in the U.S. Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, and many other natural or man-made threats can make key infrastructure unavailable for weeks, not just days. So, how do we know how to prepare, holistically? By “holistically,” I mean preparing for the impact of an event (e.g., infrastructure unavailable); not just a particular type of threat? There are a great many resources available, but individuals and companies may not know that they exist. This presentation is about where to find those resources.
